SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry said his sore right knee will keep him out “a little longer,” confirming Saturday night that he has not yet returned to on-court work.
Curry spoke with ESPN’s Malika Andrews during an in-game interview at Chase Center, where the Warriors fell 129-101 to the Los Angeles Lakers. The game was the 10th consecutive he has missed with patellofemoral pain syndrome, commonly called runner’s knee.
The Warriors initially hoped the two-time MVP would be back immediately after the Feb. 2026 All-Star break, but a setback during a workout that weekend halted those plans. Team medical staff then paused all court activity for 10 days.
Before Saturday’s tipoff, Curry was seen in the locker room performing weight-bearing squats on his right leg. The organization is scheduled to release a formal status update on Sunday, and early indications are that he will be out for at least a few more games.
“Right now it’s about stacking good days,” Curry said. “Hopefully they can unleash me on the court soon and I can get back sooner rather than later.”
Golden State dropped to 31-29 with the loss, holding the Western Conference’s No. 8 seed and tracking toward the Play-In Tournament. Curry, 37, reiterated his desire to return in time to help the club secure a full playoff berth. “Once I get back, it’s a full sprint to the playoffs,” he said, noting the need to manage pain without risking further damage.
The Warriors are already without Jimmy Butler, who tore his ACL in January and will miss the remainder of the season. Trade-deadline addition Kristaps Porzingis has been sidelined four straight games by illness and has logged only 17 minutes since joining the team.
