Redick cited errors throughout the night, noting that “basketball is a game of mistakes.” He added that he, assistant coach Jordan Ott and the players all shared responsibility. Despite Grayson Allen needing 24 shots to score 22 points, the Suns guard “kicked our butt,” Redick said.
Los Angeles has been strong in close games for most of the year, yet Thursday’s outcome marked another clutch stumble. The Lakers have now dropped three consecutive matchups at the tail end of their homestand.
Work in progress
With fewer than two months remaining before the postseason, Redick described the roster as “a work in progress.” The club has struggled to sustain intensity on both ends for 48 minutes, a point the coaching staff aims to address before Saturday’s road meeting with the Golden State Warriors.
