Vanessa Bryant Dedicates Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Court at Hoag Hospital

Newport Beach, Calif. — Vanessa Bryant on Feb. 24 formally opened the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Court inside Hoag Hospital’s Sue & Bill Gross Women’s Pavilion, a space designed to serve families entering and leaving the maternity unit.
The date — 2/24 — was chosen to reflect Kobe Bryant’s No. 24 and Gianna Bryant’s No. 2. The court, located in a high-traffic hallway rather than a traditional basketball setting, is intended as a functional gathering area for parents and relatives awaiting news of newborns.
Hoag Hospital holds personal significance for the Bryant family; all four of Vanessa and Kobe’s daughters were born there. Hospital staff members who assisted the family during those years attended the unveiling ceremony.
Since the 2020 helicopter crash that claimed nine lives, including Kobe and 13-year-old Gianna, Vanessa Bryant has focused many philanthropic efforts on honoring her late husband and daughter while supporting community programs. The Family Court continues that mission by emphasizing care and continuity rather than public spectacle.
Visitors to the Women’s Pavilion will now pass through the dedicated space, marked by the numbers 2 and 24, as they arrive for deliveries or depart with newborns in hand.
