Durant Eyes 2028 Olympic Return; Parker Nears Spanish Loan; Brooks Named Italian Cup MVP

HOUSTON — Four-time Olympic gold medalist Kevin Durant said he intends to seek a roster spot on Team USA for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. The 37-year-old Houston Rockets forward, already the men’s program’s all-time leading scorer, told ESPN’s Vincent Goodwill he plans to put “my name in that hat” as long as his performance warrants selection.
“I would love to, but I’ve got to stay on top of my game,” Durant said. “I want to produce on the floor and make Grant Hill and whoever is making the decisions want to put me on the team … not just for seniority.”
Early projections for 2028 roster
In a separate ESPN piece, Zach Kram listed 12 players he believes are early favorites for the U.S. roster: Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel, Jalen Duren, Amen Thompson, Scottie Barnes, Cade Cunningham, Anthony Edwards, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Tyrese Haliburton, Bam Adebayo and Jayson Tatum. Kram noted that Durant could fill the final wing position if he remains productive over the next two-plus years.
Partizan to loan Jabari Parker
Partizan Belgrade is expected to send forward Jabari Parker on loan to Spanish club Joventut Badalona for the rest of the season, Mozzart Sport reported. The former No. 2 overall NBA draft pick has been away from the Serbian team since January 9 and is under contract with Partizan through 2026-27, leaving his long-term status uncertain.
Armoni Brooks captures Italian Cup honors
Guard Armoni Brooks, who appeared in the NBA from 2020-24, was named MVP of the Italian Cup after leading Olimpia Milano to the domestic trophy, according to RealOlimpiaMilano.com. The 27-year-old said he “100 percent” hopes to re-sign with the club.
