Houston, Feb. 23, 2026 — Rockets forward Jae’Sean Tate has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee and will be sidelined for at least four to six weeks, head coach Ime Udoka told reporters on Friday.

Udoka confirmed the timeline during his pregame media availability, citing results from medical imaging conducted earlier in the day. The coach added that the team will reevaluate Tate’s status as he progresses through rehabilitation.

The injury further thins Houston’s front-court rotation, which is already navigating several minor ailments. Tate, 30, is averaging 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 22.6 minutes per game this season.

The Rockets did not announce a specific date for Tate’s next evaluation but indicated updates will be provided as warranted.
