DENVER — The Denver Nuggets have shifted forward Spencer Jones from a two-way contract to a standard NBA deal for the rest of the season, according to Tuesday’s transaction log.
Jones, 24, has started 34 games and averaged 23.6 minutes while Denver’s rotation battled injuries. He is shooting better than 50 percent overall and 41 percent from three-point range and has provided consistent wing defense.
The promotion was delayed after Jones missed the three games leading into the All-Star break with a concussion. Denver, operating roughly $1.8 million below the luxury-tax threshold, was limited to a one-year agreement. Jones will enter restricted free agency this summer; seven additional starts would make him eligible for a $5.9 million qualifying offer.
Celtics sign Dalano Banton to 10-day contract
BOSTON — The Boston Celtics have filled an open roster spot by signing guard Dalano Banton to a 10-day contract, league sources told HoopsHype.
Banton, 26, has appeared in 218 NBA games and spent part of the 2023-24 campaign with Boston before logging a recent 10-day stint with the Los Angeles Clippers and playing in the G League. Boston is required to carry at least 14 players and intends to rely on short-term deals to remain under the luxury tax.
76ers convert Jabari Walker to standard roster
PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers have moved forward Jabari Walker to a standard contract after he reached the 50-game limit on his two-way deal earlier this month.
Walker, 23, quickly carved out a rotation role under head coach Nick Nurse, offering energy and defensive versatility despite inconsistent perimeter shooting. He joins guard Cameron Payne in occupying the team’s final roster spots. Philadelphia stays below the tax line and maintains enough flexibility for a potential late-season addition.
