Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is expected to rejoin practice on Thursday and could be back in the lineup within days, provided there are no setbacks. The 24-year-old has been out since Jan. 15 after an MRI revealed a buckle fracture affecting three ribs, an injury he initially sustained on Jan. 10 in Indiana. Herro continued to play three additional games with Toradol injections before the team shut him down. Limited to just 11 appearances this season, he is averaging 21.9 points over 31.7 minutes while shooting .497 from the field, .358 from three, and .902 at the foul line. Since Dec. 5, Miami ranks 22nd in offensive rating, a period in which Herro has seen action only six times.
Atlanta Keeps Kuminga on Hold
The Atlanta Hawks announced Wednesday that recently acquired forward Jonathan Kuminga will be reevaluated in one week as he continues to rehab a left knee bone bruise. The former No. 7 overall pick has yet to debut for Atlanta. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution noted that Kuminga’s up-tempo style could mesh well with teammates Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker once he is cleared.
Magic Urge Caution With Wagner
Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner faces another extended spell on the sidelines due to a persistent ankle problem. Teammate Paolo Banchero said Wednesday that Wagner should not rush back, a sentiment echoed by head coach Jamahl Mosley, who emphasized the importance of a full recovery for the long-term health of the 22-year-old forward.
