LeBron James revealed on the latest episode of his “Mind the Game” podcast that he eliminated two of his favorite indulgences—wine and chocolate-chip cookies—to help his body rebound from a slow start to the 2025-26 NBA season.

Speaking with co-host Steve Nash, the 41-year-old Los Angeles Lakers forward said he made the change after missing training camp and the first 14 games. “I had to sacrifice something,” James explained.

James, whose season debut came on Nov. 18 against the Utah Jazz, abstained from alcohol and desserts for the entire month of November, then kept the fast going through December. He finally broke it on Jan. 1.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark reacted to the news on ESPN’s Instagram account, writing, “I’d rather retire than do this. This is why he’s him.”

The four-time MVP, now in his 23rd NBA season and preparing for his 22nd All-Star appearance, said he is still weighing whether to keep playing after this year. “I just want to live, that’s all,” he told reporters.

Through the current campaign, James is averaging 22.0 points on 50.2 percent shooting, along with 5.8 rebounds and 7.1 assists.
