Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James said on Feb. 15 he has not decided whether he will play another NBA season or retire, leaving his future in the league uncertain.
“I’m not sure if I’m going to return or retire from the NBA,” the four-time champion told reporters, adding that he plans to take more time before making a final decision.
The statement temporarily halts speculation about the 20-time All-Star’s next move. James, widely regarded as one of basketball’s greatest players, is concluding his 21st NBA campaign and is under contract with the Lakers through the 2026 season, though that commitment includes player options.
James did not provide a specific timeline for when he will announce his plans. The Lakers have not commented on the matter.
