Indianapolis, Feb. 14, 2026 — Orlando Magic rookie Jase Richardson said he escaped serious injury after a hard fall in the first round of Saturday’s Slam Dunk Contest.

“I’m good,” Richardson told reporters, explaining that his arm clipped the side of the backboard while attempting a 360 off-glass finish. The miscue forced him to settle for a backup dunk that earned a 43.4 composite score and led to his elimination.

Richardson later posted video of the dunk he had planned, and noted that he consulted his father, two-time Dunk Contest winner Jason Richardson, during preparations. The younger Richardson declined to wear his father’s jersey, saying he wanted to “make it my own thing.”

Other All-Star notes

Stephen Curry said he expects to rejoin the Three-Point Contest next year after Damian Lillard captured his third title on Saturday. “I already scheduled it,” the Warriors guard said, adding that he hopes Lillard and teammate Klay Thompson will compete as well. Curry currently owns two Three-Point Contest victories.

Jaylen Brown voiced support for adding a one-on-one event to All-Star weekend. “It’s the purity of the game,” the Celtics star said, naming Luka Dončić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Donovan Mitchell as potential opponents and suggesting prize money could go to charity. Interest in the idea grew after the women’s league Unrivaled held a successful 1-on-1 tournament won by Chelsea Gray.

Newly crowned Slam Dunk champion Keshad Johnson reflected on his path from undrafted free agent to Miami Heat forward and contest winner. “I beat the odds,” Johnson said. “I dreamed of every year I was watching the NBA dunk contest, I dreamed of being out there, putting on a show for everybody.” He added that the victory introduced him to a wider audience “both as a dunker and as a person.”
