Draymond Green Blames All-Star Weekend Appearances for On-Court Fatigue

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green said players enter the NBA All-Star Game too tired to compete because promotional duties dominate the weekend.

Speaking on his podcast Friday, Green argued that the packed schedule—ranging from community events to endorsement engagements—leaves participants with almost no time to prepare for the exhibition itself. “By the time you get to the game, you’ve had maybe 20 minutes to shoot,” he said, contrasting that with a typical game-day routine that includes workouts, treatment, weights and film study.

Green added that arriving “cold” heightens injury risk, making players wary of exerting full effort. “I’m supposed to play hard in a game I prepared for in 20 minutes?” he asked.

As a remedy, the four-time champion proposed shifting most public appearances to non-All-Stars and trimming the weekend’s itinerary so selected players can focus on basketball. “Less programming, more basketball,” he concluded.
