The Dallas Mavericks requested the relocation of a new Luka Doncic billboard promoting Overwatch Season 18 after team ownership deemed the original placement too close to American Airlines Center, according to The Sporting Tribune’s Arash Markazi.

The advertisement, part of Blizzard Entertainment’s campaign featuring the Los Angeles Lakers guard in an exclusive in-game skin, was installed in several cities, including Dallas. Sources cited by Markazi said Mavericks ownership asked that the Dallas sign be moved, expressing discomfort with the display’s proximity to the team’s home arena.

Doncic, traded from Dallas to Los Angeles in a headline-making deal during the 2024-25 season, has not publicly addressed the billboard dispute. The 26-year-old Slovenian star has spoken previously about leaving past friction behind while focusing on pursuing championships with the Lakers.

The Mavericks drew criticism from fans when they dealt Doncic while he was recovering from injury, a move that lowered his trade value. Since then, Dallas leadership has made several public remarks regarding the guard’s time with the franchise. Former majority owner Mark Cuban recently acknowledged he “let people down” over the trade.

The Overwatch collaboration marks one of Doncic’s highest-profile gaming partnerships. Whether additional signage in the Dallas area will remain in place has not been clarified.
