WASHINGTON — The Washington Wizards announced Thursday that rookie center Alex Sarr has been diagnosed with a right hamstring strain and is expected to be out of action for roughly two weeks.

The injury forces Sarr to withdraw from Friday night’s Rising Stars showcase during All-Star weekend. He also sat out Wednesday’s 138-113 defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers, a game the team had initially listed him as missing because of right hamstring tightness.

Sarr, 19, is one of only three NBA players averaging at least 17 points, seven rebounds and two blocks per contest this season. Washington heads into the All-Star break at 14-39, the league’s second-worst record.

The Wizards did not provide additional details on Sarr’s recovery beyond the two-week timeline.
