The Washington Wizards filled the lone vacancy on their 15-man roster Wednesday by signing guard Kadary Richmond to a 10-day contract, the club announced in a press release.
Richmond, 24, went undrafted out of St. John’s last June and accepted a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 agreement with Washington before training camp. He was waived at the end of the preseason and joined the organization’s G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go.
Through 23 games with the Go-Go, the 6-6 guard has averaged 8.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals across 22.4 minutes, shooting 45.7 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from three and 84.6 percent at the foul line. His recent play has been stronger; in Saturday’s outing he recorded 19 points and six assists.
Washington now carries 13 players on standard contracts, with Richmond joining fellow guard Keshon Gilbert—also on a 10-day—as temporary additions to complete the 15-man roster.
Gilbert’s agreement ends after All-Star Weekend, while Richmond’s contract extends through next Friday, Feb. 20, covering the Wizards’ first two games following the break. The deal will pay Richmond $73,153.
