The Miami Heat canvassed the market ahead of last Thursday’s NBA trade deadline but ultimately stood pat after finding the proposals underwhelming, league sources told The Miami Herald.

Heat

Miami held discussions on Andrew Wiggins, Norman Powell and Tyler Herro yet never received a first-round pick offer for any of the three, according to the report. The Warriors were willing to attach two second-round selections to Wiggins, but the Heat front office believed the return was insufficient.

The club also made a run at Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee, however, turned down Miami’s pitch without a counterproposal, despite the Heat’s willingness to acquire a third tradable first-rounder to sweeten the package.

Thunder

Nikola Topic reached a personal milestone Monday, making his G League debut with the Oklahoma City Blue after missing all of last season with a torn ACL and later undergoing chemotherapy for testicular cancer. The 20-year-old Serbian logged seven points and seven assists in 16 minutes. Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault praised Topic’s resilience, calling his return to the court “unbelievable.”

Bulls

Chicago’s backcourt depth should improve shortly after the All-Star break. Head coach Billy Donovan told the Chicago Sun-Times that guards Josh Giddey and Tre Jones are running at full speed and participating in three-on-three workouts. Both are expected to be available soon as the Bulls continue evaluating recent roster changes.
