The Los Angeles Lakers have moved first-year wing Adou Thiero to their G League affiliate after the 2025 second-round pick cleared an important injury milestone this week.
ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that the club assigned Thiero and fellow rookie Dalton Knecht to the South Bay Lakers for practice on Feb. 8, 2026. According to the report, Thiero recently took part in his first full-contact “stay-ready” game since spraining his right MCL on Dec. 30.
Thiero, drafted out of Arkansas with the Lakers’ lone 2025 selection, had already been slowed by a lingering knee issue from college before the MCL injury further stalled his debut season. To date, he has appeared in 15 NBA games, primarily in late-game situations.
The 6-foot-6 guard showed flashes during a brief stint with South Bay earlier in the campaign, averaging 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals over three contests while playing just 20.3 minutes per game.
Head coach JJ Redick has not indicated whether Thiero will rejoin the main roster once fully cleared, especially after the recent addition of veteran shooter Luke Kennard. Even so, Thiero’s athleticism and defensive upside could provide depth as Los Angeles navigates the closing stretch of the regular season.
