The Los Angeles Lakers have ruled out Luka Doncic for Saturday’s matchup against the Golden State Warriors after diagnosing the guard with a mild hamstring strain, head coach JJ Redick announced before tip-off.
Doncic exited Thursday’s come-from-behind win over the Philadelphia 76ers with what was initially described as lower-leg soreness. Further evaluation revealed the hamstring issue, and the team will monitor him on a day-to-day basis.
“He’s got a mild hamstring strain. He’ll be out tonight and then day-to-day moving forward,” Redick told reporters.
The timing of the injury puts Doncic’s participation in next week’s 2026 NBA All-Star Game in doubt. Redick said the four-time All-Star wants to play both in the showcase and in the February 13 game at Dallas that precedes the break, but medical clearance will determine his availability.
Los Angeles also faces a back-to-back set against the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs on Monday and Tuesday. The Lakers, fighting for position in the Western Conference, must decide whether to risk playing Doncic or give him additional rest ahead of the eight-day All-Star hiatus.
The injury interrupts a strong run for Doncic, who was named Western Conference Player of the Month for January after a series of high-scoring performances.
