Detroit Pistons president of basketball operations Trajan Langdon said Friday that the club plans to move guard Daniss Jenkins from a two-way deal to a standard NBA contract over the weekend.

Jenkins will reach his 50-game active limit Friday night against New York. By converting his contract, Detroit can keep the 24-year-old in uniform beyond that threshold. “We’re having conversations with his agent about what that looks like going forward,” Langdon told reporters. “We’ll convert him over the weekend and he’ll be a rostered player in our game in Charlotte on Monday. At least that’s the goal, that’s the hope.”

The former undrafted free agent reportedly declined a two-year, minimum-salary offer in late January. Langdon credited Jenkins for the strides he has made since joining the organization. “Kudos to him, he’s worked his butt off,” Langdon said, noting the guard’s time with Motor City Cruise in the G League, a strong Summer League showing in Las Vegas and an impressive training camp.

Jenkins has served as Detroit’s primary backup point guard for most of the 2025-26 season. Through 41 appearances, he is averaging 7.9 points, 3.3 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 16.8 minutes, while shooting 42.1% from the field, 38.5% from three-point range and 79.7% at the foul line.

The Pistons currently have a full 15-man roster. Veteran forward Dario Šarić, acquired from Chicago along with Kevin Huerter at the trade deadline, is considered a likely candidate to be waived to create space for Jenkins’ new deal.
