Chris Paul Dealt to Raptors in Three-Team Trade With Nets, Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers, Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets completed a three-team trade on Feb. 4 that sends 12-time All-Star Chris Paul to Toronto, according to multiple sources familiar with the agreement.
Brooklyn receives guard Ochai Agbaji, a 2032 second-round pick from the Raptors and cash considerations, while Los Angeles clears a roster spot and cuts approximately $7 million in luxury-tax liability. Toronto, now out of the tax, is not expected to ask Paul to report and could look to re-route the veteran before Thursday’s 3 p.m. ET trade deadline.
Paul, 40, separated from the Clippers in early December after reported friction with head coach Ty Lue. The point guard played 16 games this season, averaging 2.9 points and 3.3 assists, and has said he intends to retire when the campaign ends.
Agbaji appeared in 42 contests for Toronto, including 13 starts, and averaged 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in a little more than 15 minutes per game. Cash sent to Brooklyn is expected to offset the remainder of his 2025-26 salary.
The transaction provides Toronto with payroll flexibility, gives Brooklyn an additional future asset, and allows Los Angeles to reduce its tax bill while opening a place on the roster.
