San Francisco, CA — Golden State’s night unraveled Friday when Stephen Curry left the game with right knee soreness, and the Warriors went on to lose 131-124 to the Detroit Pistons.

Warriors

The star guard scored 23 points in 25 minutes before limping off with 4:28 remaining in the third quarter after a fouled layup attempt. Trainers examined him briefly, and he headed to the locker room, later seen icing the knee. Curry did not speak to reporters but was still favoring the leg as he exited the arena.

The injury is the same patellofemoral inflammation that first appeared on the team’s report six days earlier following an individual workout in Minneapolis. He played through the issue last Sunday at Minnesota, sat out Monday’s rematch, and returned for Wednesday’s game in Utah before Friday’s setback.

Head coach Steve Kerr sought to downplay the severity, saying, “I think he’s OK. I don’t think it’s anything major. It’s been nagging him recently.”

Kings

Sacramento center Domantas Sabonis acknowledged ongoing trade speculation but said he is tuning it out. “There’s nothing you can do. You just try to ignore it,” he told The Sacramento Bee. Sabonis, now married with three children and a home in Napa Valley, added that family considerations make rumors feel different, though his on-court focus remains unchanged.

Suns

Meanwhile, league sources indicate Phoenix does not expect to make significant moves before the Feb. 5 trade deadline. First-year head coach Jordan Ott said management likes the current chemistry: “We love our group.”

The Suns recently welcomed back guard Jalen Green, who returned Friday against Cleveland after missing three games with hamstring tightness. “Our group is growing internally,” Ott said. “Our big piece we’re going to get back is Jalen Green, and that’s what we’re excited about.”
