Draymond Green says the growing speculation that the Golden State Warriors could chase Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is not keeping him up at night.
Speaking to reporters this week, the veteran forward noted that trade rumors are simply part of life in the NBA. “I’ve been here 14 years; if I get traded, that’s the business,” he said, adding that he “slept great” despite the noise surrounding the Feb. 8 trade deadline.
League sources told ESPN’s Anthony Slater that Golden State is open to significant roster moves as Stephen Curry’s prime winds down. According to those sources, every player except Curry could be involved in discussions. Antetokounmpo’s $45.6 million salary would require substantial outgoing contracts, and Green’s $25.8 million deal is among those that could balance a potential offer.
The 35-year-old forward said he understands the financial mechanics but remains focused on his role. In Friday’s 113-109 home loss to the Detroit Pistons, he posted 15 points, seven assists and three rebounds while continuing to anchor the defense and serve as the team’s emotional leader.
Green also indicated he is not demanding daily updates from general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. or owner Joe Lacob. “My phone is always on, and I’m always willing to collaborate,” he said, stressing that he trusts the front office’s process.
The Warriors enter the week 18-22, 12th in the Western Conference, with just over two weeks remaining before the deadline.
