Milwaukee, WI — ESPN insider Brian Windhorst said the Milwaukee Bucks should pivot from playoff aspirations to draft positioning in the wake of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s recent injury.

“Forget about this season for the Bucks,” Windhorst told ESPN. “The tank is now on the table for them, and the tank plus Giannis is what they’re looking at.”

The Bucks hold the worse of their own first-round pick and the New Orleans Pelicans’ pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. With Antetokounmpo sidelined, a faltering roster, and a tightening Eastern Conference, Windhorst argued that improving lottery odds could outweigh short-term competitiveness.

Milwaukee faces multiple strategic crossroads ahead of next week’s trade deadline: trade Antetokounmpo, restructure the roster around him, or maintain the status quo and reassess in the offseason. Windhorst emphasized that each scenario is complicated by the franchise’s uncertain direction and a ticking clock.

The Bucks now must decide whether to chase victories or embrace a reset aimed at June’s draft.
