Las Vegas police arrested Quenton M. “Marselles” Brown, the father of Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, on attempted murder charges after an alleged knife attack at a city park, according to a police report released Thursday.
Officers took the 53-year-old into custody early Thursday and booked him into the Clark County Detention Center. The incident took place late Wednesday, when a minor parking dispute reportedly escalated into violence.
Dispute Over Door Ding Turns Violent
Police said the confrontation began after the passenger-side door of an SUV struck a nearby vehicle. A man and woman from the second car stepped out to check for damage. The woman told investigators the SUV’s passenger—later identified as Brown—became combative, downplayed the incident and hurled insults at her boyfriend.
When the boyfriend slapped the SUV’s mirror, Brown allegedly advanced, pulled an object from his side and made what police described as a straight stabbing motion. The blow struck the man in the back, the woman said.
Another witness told officers Brown swung the knife 25 times during the altercation.
Bail, Background and Ongoing Probe
A judge set bail at $300,000 and ordered that Brown wear an ankle monitor if released. Authorities have not disclosed the victim’s condition, and the investigation remains open.
Brown is a former professional boxer with a 33-18-1 record and the father of Jaylen Brown, a four-time NBA All-Star and the 2024 NBA Finals MVP.
