The Chicago Bulls will raise Derrick Rose’s No. 1 to the United Center rafters on Jan. 24, 2026, the team announced Thursday.

The jersey retirement will take place in a post-game ceremony following the Bulls’ matchup with the Boston Celtics that night.

Rose’s number becomes the fifth retired by the franchise, joining Jerry Sloan (4), Bob Love (10), Michael Jordan (23) and Scottie Pippen (33).

A Chicago native, Rose ended his 15-year NBA career before the 2024-25 season. Drafted first overall by the Bulls in 2008, he spent eight seasons with his hometown club, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 2009 and becoming the youngest Most Valuable Player in league history in 2011. That MVP season saw Chicago post a 62-20 record and reach the Eastern Conference finals, the team’s deepest playoff run since Jordan’s 1998 departure.

Across 723 career games, Rose also played for the New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers and Memphis Grizzlies, and was selected to three All-Star Games.

The Bulls previously honored Rose in January 2025, when Chicago’s mayor declared Jan. 4 “Derrick Rose Day” and team president and CEO Michael Reinsdorf informed the former guard that his jersey would one day be retired.
