The Indiana Pacers intend to re-sign center Tony Bradley to a second 10-day contract, head coach Rick Carlisle told reporters after Saturday’s game.
Bradley’s initial 10-day deal expired following the matchup with Detroit, but the team is expected to finalize a new agreement on Monday, when Indiana visits the Philadelphia 76ers. The forthcoming contract would keep the 28-year-old on the roster through January 28, covering up to five additional games.
Bradley opened the season with the Pacers but was waived on January 5, just before his $2,940,876 salary would have become fully guaranteed. Indiana brought him back three days later on his first 10-day pact.
Since rejoining the club, the 6-foot-10 center has appeared in six contests, logging at least 15 minutes in four outings. He scored 12 points and collected three rebounds in Saturday’s loss to the Pistons. Bradley shares frontcourt minutes with Jay Huff, Isaiah Jackson, and Micah Potter, who earned a roster spot after signing on December 26.
Bradley suffered a fracture at the tip of his right thumb in mid-December and has been playing with a splint. Combined with Potter’s emergence, the injury contributed to Indiana’s decision to waive him earlier this month.
NBA rules allow a maximum of two 10-day contracts per player with the same team in a season. If the Pacers wish to keep Bradley beyond January 28, they would need to convert him to a standard contract.
