NEW YORK — Jan. 16, 2026 marks the midpoint of Mike Brown’s first season with the New York Knicks, and the front office is reportedly demanding a turnaround in the weeks ahead.
The franchise is said to have scheduled a formal midyear evaluation on Monday, giving Brown and his staff a chance to outline adjustments for the remainder of the schedule. According to team sources, ownership has emphasized improved defense and greater consistency on offense as non-negotiable goals for the second half.
Brown was hired last summer after the club missed the playoffs for a second straight year. Expectations rose with the additions of several veteran free agents and the continued development of recent draft picks, but the Knicks have hovered near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings through 41 games.
