The Charlotte Hornets will raise Dell Curry’s No. 30 to the Spectrum Center rafters on March 19, when the team hosts the Orlando Magic, the organization announced Tuesday.

Curry, named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 1994, scored 9,839 points for Charlotte—second most in franchise history—during a decade-long stint with the club from 1988 to 1998. The 16-year NBA veteran remains with the Hornets as a team ambassador and is in his 17th season as the franchise’s television analyst.

Owners Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin authorized the jersey retirement as part of an effort to strengthen ties to the organization’s past. Since acquiring the Hornets from Michael Jordan in 2023, the duo has installed Jeff Peterson as president of basketball operations, Charles Lee as head coach, and Shelly Cayette-Weston as president of business operations. They have also spearheaded construction of the Novant Health Performance Center, a new practice facility slated to open in spring 2027.

When Curry’s number is retired, he will join Bobby Phills (No. 13) as the only players whose jerseys hang in the Hornets’ rafters.
