SAN FRANCISCO — Portland Trail Blazers reserve center Yang Hansen left Tuesday night’s matchup with the Golden State Warriors after taking an accidental knee to the back of the head, then returned minutes later.
The incident occurred with 6:55 remaining in the fourth quarter at Chase Center. Hansen was fighting for a loose ball under Portland’s basket when Warriors forward Will Richard inadvertently struck him while attempting to secure possession.
The 7-foot Chinese rookie stayed on the floor clutching his head for several minutes as medical personnel and his interpreter attended to him. Hansen eventually stood up, walked unaided to the locker room, and was evaluated.
Roughly 90 seconds after leaving the court, Hansen emerged from the tunnel, rejoined the bench, and later checked back into the game.
