Los Angeles Clippers forward Derrick Jones Jr. has sustained a Grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee and will be reevaluated in six weeks, according to sources who spoke with ESPN’s Shams Charania on Sunday.
Jones was injured during Saturday’s loss to the Boston Celtics, just four games into his comeback from a prior MCL sprain in the same knee that had sidelined him for more than a month.
The 26-year-old wing had been part of the Clippers’ recent resurgence, a stretch that featured a six-game winning streak before the defeat in Boston.
Los Angeles did welcome back starting center Ivica Zubac on Saturday after the big man missed two weeks with an ankle sprain.
