The Detroit Pistons released medical updates Saturday on three key players, detailing how long each is expected to be out of the lineup.
Two starters sidelined
Tobias Harris has been diagnosed with a left hip sprain and will be reevaluated in two weeks. The 33-year-old forward, who missed Thursday’s game against Miami, is now projected to sit for at least five more contests, beginning with Sunday’s visit to Cleveland and Monday’s meeting with New York. A return date will be determined after a follow-up exam on January 17.
Harris has started all 23 games he has played since signing with Detroit in the 2024 offseason, averaging 13.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 27.4 minutes while shooting 45.5% from the field, 33.3% from three and 84.8% at the line. On an expiring $26.6 million contract, he is considered a potential trade candidate ahead of the deadline.
Jalen Duren is dealing with a sprained right ankle and will be reevaluated in one week. The 22-year-old center is enjoying a breakout campaign, posting 17.9 points and 10.6 rebounds across 31 games (28.4 minutes). With Duren sidelined, reigning Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Month Isaiah Stewart is expected to log heavier minutes, while Paul Reed slots in as the primary backup.
LeVert remains day-to-day
Caris LeVert continues to battle right knee inflammation and is listed as day-to-day. The swingman will not make the trip to Cleveland for Sunday’s matchup as he continues treatment in Detroit.
Head coach Monty Williams may also turn to Javonte Green, Jaden Ivey and Marcus Sasser for additional minutes while the trio recovers.
