The San Antonio Spurs announced Thursday that an MRI on Victor Wembanyama’s hyperextended left knee revealed no ligament damage, according to league sources cited by ESPN.

The rookie center suffered the injury midway through the fourth quarter of Wednesday night’s game against the New York Knicks when he landed awkwardly while battling for a rebound. He immediately clutched his knee but walked to the bench under his own power and later returned to the sideline in warm-ups.

Team officials kept Wembanyama in San Antonio to receive treatment at the Spurs’ practice facility rather than have him travel to Indianapolis for Friday’s matchup with the Indiana Pacers. He has been ruled out for that game and is considered day-to-day.

Sources told ESPN that the 7-foot-4 standout will be listed as questionable for Saturday’s home contest against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Before exiting Wednesday, Wembanyama compiled 31 points and 13 rebounds in just 24 minutes. The third-year center previously missed 12 games this season because of a left calf strain and currently leads San Antonio in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots.
