The Cleveland Cavaliers pieced together one of their most complete outings of the young season on Wednesday night, rolling past the Phoenix Suns 129-113.

Playing at home, Cleveland opened with a pair of quick scoring bursts and never trailed by more than two possessions after the first quarter. The Cavaliers surged to a 16-point lead behind 10 early points from Donovan Mitchell and maintained control despite uneven stretches in the middle quarters.

Mitchell finished with 34 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. The four-time All-Star was one of six Cavaliers in double figures: Darius Garland scored 19, rookie Jaylon Tyson added 18, and the front-court tandem of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen contributed 16 apiece. Reserve guard Sam Merrill also poured in 16.

Phoenix was led by Devin Booker’s 32 points, while Jordan Goodwin provided a spark on the glass. The Suns closed the gap in the second and third periods but could not withstand Cleveland’s 32-17 push in the fourth, when the margin ballooned past 20.

Turnovers and second-chance points continued to trouble Cleveland, yet the win marked the club’s second straight and hinted at the balanced, high-pace style that carried last season’s playoff run. The Cavaliers improved to 2-1 since their loss Monday in San Antonio.
