The Atlanta Hawks have signed guard RayJ Dennis to a two-way contract, making the 24-year-old his third NBA stop of the 2023-24 campaign.
Dennis began the season with the Indiana Pacers, appearing in 13 games before being waived. The Los Angeles Clippers picked him up on a 10-day deal earlier this month, but let him go after one appearance. Atlanta’s agreement was finalized this week, well before the league’s midseason mark.
The rapid movement puts Dennis on pace to challenge a little-known NBA record. Former forward Bobby Jones suited up for five different teams during the 2007-08 season; Dennis is now more than halfway to that total before January.
NBA and G League production
Across his 14 NBA games this season, the 6-foot-2 guard is averaging 4.6 points and 1.9 assists. Including last year, he has logged 25 NBA appearances.
His strongest numbers have come in the G League. In seven outings this year, Dennis is averaging 20.9 points, 5.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals, output that has kept him on the radar whenever clubs require immediate backcourt depth.
Dennis is not currently viewed as a long-term solution, but his availability and steady play have made him a frequent call-up option as teams cycle through rosters during the regular season.
