Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves will open NBA 2K26 with an 85 overall rating, NBA 2K announced on social media on Aug. 18, 2025. The mark places the fourth-year guard among the video game’s 50 highest-rated players.
The game’s official account posted a “Rising into the Top 50” graphic on X (formerly Twitter), confirming Reaves’ new number ahead of the title’s fall release.
An 85 overall ties Reaves with Sacramento Kings wings Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, as well as San Antonio Spurs point guard De’Aaron Fox—all former NBA All-Stars.
Reaves earned the boost after a career year in 2024-25, setting personal highs in points, rebounds, assists and steals. He also drew fouls at the greatest rate of his career and converted nearly 88 percent of his free throws.
Even after the Lakers traded for Luka Dončić, Reaves remained a key playmaker, periodically running the offense to ease the workload on Dončić and LeBron James. He also handled larger defensive assignments despite frequent size mismatches.
NBA 2K routinely updates player ratings during the season, giving Reaves an opportunity to climb—or drop—once live games begin.
Off the court, the 26-year-old is expected to decline his player option next summer and test unrestricted free agency. League observers project his next contract to exceed $30 million annually, and both Reaves and the Lakers have indicated mutual interest in a new deal.
