Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel left Friday night’s 120–105 victory over the Orlando Magic after twisting his right ankle late in the second quarter.

Head coach Charles Lee told reporters that postgame X-rays were negative. The team will reevaluate the 19-year-old rookie once it returns to Charlotte.

The injury occurred in the final seconds of the first half. With the Hornets up 57–48, Knueppel jumped to contest a drive by Desmond Bane and landed on Bane’s foot, rolling his ankle. He limped to the locker room and did not come back.

Before exiting, Knueppel scored 16 points—all in the opening quarter—and hit all four of his three-point attempts. He entered the night averaging 19.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists, ranking second among NBA rookies in both scoring and three-point percentage.

The Hornets held off Orlando after halftime to secure the 15-point win.
