VITORIA-GASTEIZ, Spain — Baskonia has signed former NBA forward/center Mamadi Diakite to a two-year contract, the Spanish club announced on Monday.

The 28-year-old spent last preseason with the Phoenix Suns but was released before the regular season began. He remained in the organization with the Valley Suns of the NBA G League, where he averaged 12.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks across 27 regular-season games.

Diakite entered the NBA in 2020 on a two-way agreement with the Milwaukee Bucks after going undrafted out of Virginia. Short stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks followed. Over 55 NBA appearances, he posted career marks of 3.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 9.6 minutes per game.

Baskonia competes in Spain’s Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. The roster already features several players with NBA experience, including Markus Howard, Trent Forrest, Hamidou Diallo, Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot, Rodions Kurucs and Luka Šamanić.
