Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrested Samson Nacua, the 27-year-old brother of Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, and 27-year-old Trey Rose on Saturday after locating a stolen BMW in West Hollywood.
According to a department release, deputies traced the vehicle to the 8400 block of Sunset Boulevard, where both men were taken into custody on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. NBC4 Los Angeles reported that the BMW belongs to Lakers forward Adou Thiero.
Jail records show Nacua and Rose were booked Saturday afternoon and released later that night under California Penal Code Section 849(b), indicating investigators did not have sufficient grounds to file charges at the time. Authorities did not say whether either man has legal representation.
The sheriff’s department said the investigation remains open and declined to provide additional details.
Samson Nacua played college football at Utah and BYU and spent time in NFL training camps with the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints. In April, the UFL suspended him one game for slapping a fan after a loss, a penalty that also required community service.
Earlier this week, Puka Nacua drew attention during a livestream when he suggested some NFL officials make calls to gain television exposure.
