NEW YORK — One night after sealing the NBA Cup with a comeback victory over San Antonio, the Knicks are in no hurry to overhaul their roster, according to SNY reporter Ian Begley. Team president Leon Rose is believed to be pleased with the club’s current form, even as he keeps an eye on possible upgrades before the trade deadline.

Guard help under consideration

Begley said New York would make an offer for Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado if New Orleans makes him available. The Knicks are also expected to join the pursuit of Dennis Schroder should the Kings decide to move the veteran, though Schroder’s salary and stature could complicate trade mechanics.

Front-court insurance for Robinson

With starting center Mitchell Robinson frequently sidelined by injuries, the front office continues to explore reserve big men. Begley noted that New York has expressed previous interest in 76ers backup Andre Drummond and could revisit that possibility.

Brunson earns tournament MVP

Jalen Brunson captured MVP honors for the inaugural in-season tournament, joining LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo as the award’s first recipients. After scoring the decisive buckets against the Spurs, Brunson credited teammates OG Anunoby, Tyler Kolek, Jordan Clarkson and Robinson for sparking a rally from a 10-point deficit. “We’re going to find a way,” Brunson said.

Head coach Mike Brown praised Brunson’s approach, comparing his team-first mentality to stars such as Tim Duncan, Stephen Curry and De’Aaron Fox.

Depth pays off

New York’s rebuilt bench—an offseason priority after last spring’s loss to Indiana—delivered 29 points from Clarkson and Kolek and 10 offensive rebounds plus two blocks from Robinson on Tuesday. The performance reinforced Rose’s strategy of fortifying the second unit to withstand playoff-style pressure.

No banner, but bigger message

The organization has opted against hanging a banner for the tournament title. Instead, players and coaches believe the win sends a louder signal: the Knicks belong in the championship conversation after knocking off the team that handed Oklahoma City just its second defeat of the season.
