The Atlanta Hawks have ruled center Kristaps Porzingis out for a minimum of two weeks while he undergoes additional evaluations for an undisclosed illness, the team announced in a press release.
ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported the timeline, noting that both the organization and the 30-year-old big man are prioritizing his long-term availability this season. During the two-week period, Porzingis will be limited to light basketball activity, after which the club will issue an update.
The Latvian veteran will miss his third straight game Sunday against Philadelphia. He had returned for one contest on Dec. 5 at Denver after sitting out four in a row with the same illness.
Porzingis, who is making $30.7 million in 2025-26 and can become an unrestricted free agent next summer if he does not sign an extension, told reporters after the Denver game that the current issue is not related to the postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) that sidelined him for an extended stretch last season.
“I just wasn’t feeling too good, honestly,” Porzingis said. “But I wouldn’t say it’s the same stuff from last season, so that’s good.”
The earliest projected return date is Dec. 29 at Oklahoma City, meaning he is expected to sit out at least six additional games beyond Sunday.
