A basketball tied to one of Kobe Bryant’s NBA championship seasons has been purchased for $508,000 at auction, setting a new high-water mark for a game-related ball, according to the listing.

The sale closed on Friday, December 12. The auction house did not release the name of the winning bidder.

The six-figure hammer price tops previous records for basketball memorabilia connected to Bryant, underscoring continuing demand for items linked to the late Los Angeles Lakers star.

The ball is billed by the seller as a championship artifact from the Lakers’ title run and features Bryant’s signature. It was offered with documentation attesting to its authenticity.

Including buyer’s premium and fees, the final cost reached just over half a million dollars—an unprecedented figure for a single basketball associated with Bryant’s career.
