New York, Dec. — Free-agent guard Malik Beasley and his representation have dismissed reports suggesting he is on the verge of signing with EuroLeague club Partizan Belgrade.
Agent Brian Jungreis told Front Office Sports’ Colin Salao that conversations with the Serbian team did occur, but any suggestion of an imminent agreement is “exaggerated.” According to Jungreis, discussions never advanced beyond preliminary framework.
“We had conversations and some framework, but nowhere close to anything closing or happening for the moment,” Jungreis said.
Beasley, 29, remains in limbo while federal authorities and the NBA investigate a potential link to illegal betting activity. During this period, the 6’4″ guard has reportedly attracted interest from clubs in Europe and China.
Jungreis emphasized that Beasley would not accept any overseas offer without an NBA escape clause. “The report of no NBA out is 100% inaccurate,” the agent stated.
Appearing on a Twitch stream Monday, Beasley dismissed the Belgrade rumors even more forcefully. “I’m not going to Serbia,” he said. “Make sure all you mother****ers know that. I’m not coming.”
Before the investigation surfaced, Beasley was reportedly discussing a three-year, $42 million contract with the Detroit Pistons. He is coming off a 2024-25 season in which he averaged 16.3 points and ranked second in the NBA with 319 made three-pointers, finishing as runner-up for Sixth Man of the Year.
Should he receive clearance from both the federal probe and the league, Beasley is widely expected to become one of the most sought-after names on the NBA free-agent market.
