NBA Teams Detail 2025-26 Trade Cash Activity
nba-cash-in-trades-2025-26

The 2025-26 NBA league year allows each franchise to include up to $7,964,000 in cash when completing trades. Once a club hits that ceiling, it must wait until the next league year before attaching more money to a deal.

Sending and receiving limits are tracked independently. A team that both sends and receives the full allotment exhausts its flexibility on both fronts for the season.

Cash often sweetens a trade—either to pry away a draft pick or to help another club absorb an unwanted contract. In some cases, money is added simply to satisfy collective bargaining rules.

Second apron restriction: Any organization operating above the NBA’s second tax apron cannot include outgoing cash. Entering the season, that prohibition applies to the Cleveland Cavaliers; they may only send money if their salary picture falls below the apron.
