MIAMI — Bam Adebayo scored 24 points Friday and passed Glen Rice for third place on the Miami Heat’s all-time scoring list, a milestone reached during a 106-105 home loss to the Orlando Magic.

The seventh-year center now trails only franchise icons Dwyane Wade and Alonzo Mourning. “That’s really incredible. What an achievement,” head coach Erik Spoelstra said, adding that Adebayo’s growth from a defense-first rookie to a versatile scorer highlights “his consistency, his work ethic.”

Adebayo, 28, acknowledged the accomplishment but lamented that it came in defeat. “I would have liked to have done it in a win,” he said. “I’m pretty sure when I see Glen, he’s going to give me a big hug. That’s my guy.”

Lineup Shuffle Features Ware, Then Sits Him

Spoelstra returned to a bigger starting frontcourt featuring Adebayo alongside rookie center Kel’el Ware, yet the experiment was short-lived. Ware checked out with 2:06 remaining in the third quarter and did not reenter. “That starting group was a little bit uneven tonight,” Spoelstra said, noting that the dual-center look “hasn’t been able to defend so far” and remains a work in progress.

Herro Sidelined Again, MRI Scheduled

Five games into his comeback from ankle surgery, guard Tyler Herro missed Friday’s contest with toe irritation. An MRI is set for Saturday in Miami, and the absence marked his 18th missed game of the season. By crossing that threshold, Herro is now ineligible for postseason awards—eliminating the super-max contract possibility linked to such honors.

NBA Cup Quarterfinal on Deck

The Heat and Magic meet again Tuesday in the NBA Cup quarterfinals. Advancing could trigger a lengthy, four-time-zone road swing, while an early exit would keep Miami’s schedule more compact.
