LOS ANGELES — Dec. 4, 2025, at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, LeBron James finished with eight points yet delivered the decisive pass in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 112-109 victory over the Toronto Raptors, snapping his NBA-record run of 1,297 regular-season games with at least 10 points.
With the score tied and the clock winding down, the Raptors trapped Austin Reaves near mid-court. Reaves swung the ball to James, who immediately spotted Rui Hachimura alone on the wing. James rifled a pass to Hachimura, whose three-pointer with 1.7 seconds left secured the win.
“I always make the right play,” James said postgame on Spectrum SportsNet. “They doubled AR, we had numbers, and Rui knocked it down.” Asked about the end of his scoring streak, he replied, “We won. That’s all that matters.”
Reaves led all scorers with a career-high 44 points, while Luka Dončić added 27 for Los Angeles. James’ eight points marked his first single-digit regular-season outing since Jan. 5, 2007, when he scored eight against the Milwaukee Bucks while with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
James has faced criticism throughout his career for passing in late-game situations, but he reiterated that his approach will not change. “Basketball is about winning,” he said. “I’ve played this way my entire life, and it’s brought success at every level.”
League chatter continues that the 2025-26 campaign could be James’ final season with the Lakers, though the 41-year-old has not addressed his future publicly.
