The Golden State Warriors intend to release second-year forward Jackson Rowe from his two-way deal and replace him with free-agent guard LJ Cryer, according to reports from Marc Stein and Michael Scotto.

Cryer, a 6’0″ guard who starred at Baylor and Houston, spent training camp and the preseason with Golden State before being cut in October. Since then, he has excelled for the Warriors’ G League affiliate in Santa Cruz during the fall Tip-Off Tournament, averaging 24.3 points, 6.1 assists and 4.9 rebounds across seven games (34.1 minutes). He is shooting 44.4% from the field, 41.4% from three and 86.7% at the foul line while attempting 12.4 three-pointers and making 5.1 per contest.

Rowe, 28, went undrafted out of Cal State Fullerton in 2020 and played professionally in France, Sweden, Canada, Germany and the G League before signing an Exhibit 10 contract with Golden State in July 2024. The 6’6″ forward was waived ahead of the 2024-25 season opener, began the year with Santa Cruz, and secured a two-year two-way agreement with the Warriors in January. He appeared in six NBA games last season, logging 3.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 8.7 minutes per night.

The Warriors have not announced a timetable for finalizing the transactions.
