The Memphis Grizzlies are bringing in guard Kobe Bufkin on a 10-day hardship contract, according to league sources.
The move comes as Memphis copes with an extensive injury list. Ja Morant, Scotty Pippen Jr., Brandon Clarke and Ty Jerome are all out for several weeks, while Jaren Jackson Jr. has recently been sidelined by an ankle sprain. Despite the setbacks, the Grizzlies improved to 6-11 after Saturday night’s victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
Bufkin is expected to be available when the Grizzlies host the Denver Nuggets on Monday. The 6-4 guard has been called up from the Los Angeles Lakers’ South Bay G League affiliate, where he averaged 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists in two appearances this season.
The No. 15 pick in the 2023 NBA draft, Bufkin spent his first two seasons with the Atlanta Hawks. He was traded to the Brooklyn Nets during the offseason and waived after training camp before joining South Bay.
