Michigan State Ties

Ott, Cleaves and Suns owner Mat Ishbia are all Michigan State alumni. General manager Brian Gregory began his coaching career as a Spartans assistant from 1990–96 and returned from 1999–2003, overlapping with Ishbia during that period.

The newly announced assistants round out Ott’s inaugural staff as Phoenix prepares for the 2025-26 season.
