Chicago, IL — Bulls guard Coby White delivered 27 points and eight assists in his first appearance of the season, a double-overtime loss to the Jazz. Sidelined by a calf strain since training camp, the fourth-year guard said coaches urged him to “come back and be aggressive,” a message he embraced. White is set to reach unrestricted free agency next summer.

Speculation about Chicago pursuing native son Anthony Davis persists, but league sources remain skeptical. Executive vice president of basketball operations Artūras Karnišovas reiterated during camp that the franchise “has to be patient” and “can’t skip steps.” Davis, now with Dallas, is in the second season of a three-year, $175.3 million contract that includes a player option for 2026-27.

In Indianapolis, the injury-plagued Pacers have opened 1-12, yet forward Pascal Siakam rejected excuses. “There shouldn’t be a reason you’re out there and not giving your best,” he told the Indianapolis Star, adding that the team must “fight” despite nightly personnel changes.

Cody Martin’s 10-day hardship deal with Indiana expired Saturday, and the Pacers no longer meet hardship criteria for a renewal. The swingman logged four games during his brief stint.

The Pistons could regain three starters against Indiana tonight. Guard Cade Cunningham (left hip contusion) missed the past two games, while forward Ausar Thompson (right ankle sprain) sat out three; both are listed as questionable. Center Jalen Duren (right ankle sprain), absent for two games, is probable, according to the Detroit Free Press.
