The New York Knicks have twice in recent days intervened to stop public figures from using the team’s logo without permission.
First, the organization demanded that New York State Assembly member Zohran Mamdani take down a social-media post that displayed the Knicks emblem. According to the club, the use of its trademarked imagery was unauthorized and violated team policy.
After securing Mamdani’s compliance, the Knicks made a similar request to former President Donald Trump, who had shared a separate post featuring the same logo. Trump also removed his post following the outreach from Madison Square Garden’s legal department.
The double takedown underscores the franchise’s aggressive approach to protecting its intellectual property online, regardless of political affiliation or public stature.
