Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick said Wednesday that the organization anticipates LeBron James will be back on the court during the second or third week of November. Speaking before the team’s game, Redick told reporters the timeline remains tentative but matches earlier indications from ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and The Athletic’s Shams Charania pointing to mid-November.
James continues to rehabilitate a bout of sciatica that first surfaced over the summer and persisted through training camp. According to Redick, the forward will undergo another evaluation later this week to measure his progress. The Lakers have emphasized a cautious approach, prioritizing James’s long-term health over an accelerated return.
Luka Doncic Update
Redick also addressed the status of Luka Doncic, who has missed three consecutive games with a left-hand finger sprain and a leg contusion. The coach said the swelling in Doncic’s hand has decreased from double its normal size to roughly one-and-a-half times, and the team hopes he can rejoin the lineup within the next few games.
Doncic remains day-to-day and did not accompany the Lakers on their current road trip, which concludes Friday in Memphis.
